#COVIDIFIED – Day 39

It is Day 39 of my personal lockdown or should I say “social distancing” that now holds a prominent place in our history and vocabularies. I just received a phone call from my area Mayor this evening briefing today’s status of the COVID-19 situation. “There has been 50 deaths today” he mentioned with grief and that is just the status of a county here in New Jersey . Ours is one of the most affected states after New York which is considered to be the biggest hotspot in the country with more than 200,000 cases as of today (4/14/20) – as per ncov2019.live .

I’m not going to write more about what COVID-19 is or what the disease does to you or what the government is and isn’t doing. I have been thinking of keeping journal entries about the current situation ( yes, of course after a gazillion podcasts mentioned the same 🙂 ) but haven’t been successful with it. The one thing I’m trying to do though is to have a routine – not just morning or evening a “day routine” and have some simple things to do during the course of the day.

Few things I’m making a routine of :

  1. REFRESH – I attended an hour long virtual Vinyasa Yoga class – courtesy my apartment building association. I have never appreciated YOGA more. My friend always raved about it, but today I experienced what she meant. Try it sometime – or any form of workout .
  2. RELAX – Took a warm-to-hot shower before hitting the snooze button, heard this morning in one of my fav podcasts that this helps with sleep – so yep , people struggling with sleep definitely try this.
  3. REWIND – Trying to journal – I will consider this blog post a partial journal 🙂
  4. RECUPERATE – This goes to the image above – try and stay away from stupid/fake media and utilize the latter portion of your day to recover as much as possible from the overload of news and media and other tech distractions. Read a book , do hand-lettering or art and KEEP YOUR PHONE AWAY!!

I’m glad I got to writing this today . I will try and keep this up for tomorrow as well. One day at a time!

  1. Nice list.. May I add a few more “R’s” ?
    Reminisce – some time to think about the good times, old friends and connect, be thankful..
    Resolve – to look at the big picture and what the most important things in life are
    Routine (you covered this) – setup a routine and stick to it as much as possible
    Respond – positively in anyway we can, helping, supporting, etc.
    Reach-out – to your friends, extended family, people in need..
