#Inthistogether

Since everyone has been talking and throwing around the phase “we’re in this together” #inthistogether…I thought this was a good opportunity to address one looming #inthistogether question – how to tackle the issue when one industry or sector or company is making a fortune ( though rightfully struggling with their workforce ) yet another is slowly sinking into oblivion?

The context I’m talking about here is about the various businesses/industries suffering from the #covidified situation and others breaking their backs to serve and in the process making a fortune.

Let’s for a minute forget about how we got here but think about how we resolve this together for real – like literally together!

Below is an example purely for comparison –

Company A –  department store or retailer with a huge physical presence and a reasonable online presence

Company B – huge grocery chain with a huge physical and online presence

Company B is making a fortune – but workforce is struggling – needs more manpower

Company A sinking into oblivion (slow-motion of course) – need customers to fulfill their physical presence – skilled workforce out of work as company unable to sustain losses

OVERLAP – Manpower

Why can’t we just share that just like the above article – the manpower/brain power – share the people, help the people and in turn help the economy?

And that is when I read the below article shared on linkedin

Forget about the laws and rules we put in, that might prohibit us from doing things that seem out of the normal – rules are just that – which are put in by us ‘human beings’ – we need to adjust and adapt to evolve – isn’t that the basis of the sustenance of our species?

  1. We are in this together – Yes, not exactly like what you discussed, but in some ways, the same idea.

The idea of isolating / quarantining / being in lock-down itself is being in the same situation together, of course, not by choice but by force to a large extent.

Along with the corporate aspect that you mentioned, as people, I think we need to get behind the various groups of people – health-care professionals who are in the front lines and other groups of people providing essential services, then there are people who may be dealing with this by themselves, the group of people that are most vulnerable, people dealing with addictions, phobias, violence at home, financial struggles because of this situation. I think as humanity we need to get together and support all of them, those that we can individually reach, in any way we can, morally, financially or by offering other material or non-material support..

This can be a pivoting moment for our generation that has coasted so far.. We’re in this together..
